Background
It was a SaaS collaborative platform that streamlined the production flow and created synergy in manufacturing factories. It allowed the different roles to operate on desktops, tablets, and mobile phones. There were planning functions for web users and executing functions for app users.
There were 6 modules, including production execution, material management, quality inspection, equipment maintenance, data analytic, and administrative management catering for the main operations throughout production process in the manufacturing industry.

Being the second senior member in the design team of Blacklake, I was assigned to the product/UI design of all modules and worked with all product managers during 2018 to 2020. As a result, I was highly familiar with all UI components across this platform.
As the features of this SaaS platform rapidly grew, I was also assigned to build company’s design system across the webs and apps with front-end developers, ensuring the smooth collaboration and rapid development between design and RD teams.

There were 6 modules on this platform, the head of design and I were responsible for the UI/UX design of all modules while the other 2 designers were mostly focusing on one module, and visual requirements from marketing department.
Oftentimes, I support the head of design in the modules of production, quality inspection, and material since these 3 modules were the most complex ones. I included the highlights of these 3 modules and some other projects in this showcase.

S.O.P. Production - Strict Production Flows 🔗
This was a project that supported food manufacturing factories requiring their workers to strictly follow the standard operating procedure during the production, it was mostly challenging about the configuration of SOP and its flexible settings.
QR Code Scanning - Complex I.A. Improvement 🔗
This was a project that supported new clients’ factories requiring different amount of details from materials during QR code scanning, it was mostly challenging about the layout design of massive information.

In the time frame of 1 month, I partnered up with the head of marketing and front-end developers in Blacklake to deliver Black Lake’s promoting website (desktops & mobiles) to increase engagement rate from 21% to 73% per month.
Head of marketing wrote down the draft of each section and their copies, then he left the content creation to me. I mainly focused on navigating viewers to book a demo with our sales teams and how to communicate the service of Blacklake’s complex product with potential clients.
Based on my collaboration with the marketing team during testing, using edited photos to create imaginable scenarios was considered the best approach to engage clients in the manufacturing industry as other graphic styles appeared to be less relatable to the viewers (Senior mostly).
The biggest challenge of landing pages for a large-scale SaaS was to showcase the overall service for production processes, I teamed up with our Visual/UI designer to create an illustration to demonstrate how Blacklake’s service facilitates the collaboration between workstations.
